Buffet, again?!

pretty sure my thighs dont look like that anymore :(
& my fav heels! why did you have to break, until now i still havent find a pair i really like & as comfy as you.

went seoulgarden today! second buffet in a week.
well since it's seoulgarden, i didnt take much photos because the food there doesnt change, nothing fascinating either. except the prawns are significantly smaller.

feeling a bit unwell already, probably too heaty.
hopefully i still have voice for ktv tomorrow. pretty excited, Clash of the Titans!

alright, heard a pretty funny joke few days ago.

Q: 为 什么米粉不要跟鱼做朋友?

A: 因为鱼片米粉!

hahaha get it? 鱼骗米粉! LOL

& so i was sharing it with the guys today, and they came out with their version, in english!

Q: Why didnt beehoon want to befriend fish?

A: Because fish head beehoon!

HAHAHAHAH! get it? fish hate beehoon!

not sure about you all but i still think it's pretty laughable.

i love this song, If We Ever Meet Again by Timbaland & Katy Perry.
liked the mtv a lot, but i just couldnt say where or what is it that attracted me so much!

Free flow of abalone, lobsters & scallops!

hello people, i am back, von Yvonne is here to stay!
well, lack of updates because i havent been home for quite some time.

& anyway, i tweet a lot. if you're interested getting first-hand information about my life, follow me on twitter! i tweet all the time because it's convenient for me, really easy to update as compared to a blog :D i basically tweet about everything, my breakfasts, lunches, dinners & suppers, angry rants, complains & whinings, so yeah, basically almost everything. unless i am too lazy to type or my phone died on me.

so for the last two weeks,

#1. my first time playing WoW. & it's like wow, awesome game! i love the Warsong Gulch! like damn awesome, go around killing people although most of the time i end up dying too.

#2. out of boredom i watched Monga again. & watched Resident Evil 1 to 3,  and also watched a couple of (something something) of the Dead movies. i've watched a lot of (something something) of the Dead movies like, Dawn of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead, Day of the Dead, House of the Dead, and it goes on. i really cannot remember, too much to mention. some of these movies are like older than me, but i like them, they're good time-killers.

#3. booked my air tickets & hotels! will be flying off in late april.

#4. went on a binge again last thursday.

an overview, dont have to squint your eyes because larger images are below!
so hilarious, one random picture of myself in between all the food. spot me!

these are the only pictures of the restaurant because i got scolded by the staff after that =.=''

right after we were seated, we were served some herbal soup.
a slice of abalone in the soup (!!), i like the soup, very much to my liking!
good strategy to fill us up with soup so that we'll eat lesser of their lobsters and etc?

my first plate! i must say, the appearance of the dishes are really appealing.
top left & top: both are prawns (cold), the left one was a bit weird, strawberries and prawn cant seem to match =/
bottom left: abalone! super awesome, i had 4 or 5 servings of that!
the rest on the plate are chuka hotate, the one with shell is scallop right? erm & unagi and beef slices.

my second plate.

third plate. i really love unagi & their abalone. i just kept "attacking" the abalone counter.
top right is some cocktail i think? the rest are ham, chuka lidako, cherry tomatoes (yeah was supposed to be plural but i kept eating and forgot to take picture, until it was singular then i remembered).

then we had dobinmushi, (in my opinion, inferior to ichibanboshi's, i think it's the same soup as the one they served us when we entered! gahhhh!) chawanmushi, herbal prawns, fresh oysters, lobsters (cold), prawns (cold) ... then we saw the chocolate fondue fountain! excitedly, we went to dip fruits & marshmallows like small kids!

they all look the same but there's actually grapes, strawberries and marshmallows.

oh & also, they have this counter where you can choose your meat, like beef or salmon whatever, can ask them to cook for you, ahh there's bean sprouts too.

test tube fruit juices!

my last plate before i raised the white flag.
black pepper crab & chocolate pudding!
the crab is kinda crappy, but the chocolate pudding is nice.
the last thing i ate, mango sago!
other than these, they have pastries too, lots of chocolate cakes, cheesecakes, petit fours, ice cream, hashima (my favorite! but stomach really no space already, so didnt try theirs), wine, shark's fin, raw fish slices, ahh speaking of this, they have salmon, hamachi, maguro, ika, but no kajiki, mega-sadded! okay and a lot more lah, wish i had more spaces for the food. will definitely go there again, sure thing! my planned next visit there would be june!

my plans for this week,

#1. new blog layout/template/header.

#2. clean my room! it's like a dumping ground, again.

#3. i wanna watch How to Train Your Dragon, been hearing the raves about it. must check it out!
(update: i typed this post in the afternoon before the impromptu decision to watch it, so here's the review! Movie review: How to Train Your Dragon)

#4. & watch the long-awaited Clash of the Titans!

#5. make my way down to shenton way to collect some items.

#6. prettify my nails!

hopefully i'll accomplish everything i have in plan. i actually foresee only accomplishing #3, #4, #5 and #6, rofl!

alright just added a new label to my blog, Von Appétit! since i love food & they love me too, will try to flood this space with mouth-watering pictures! (dont flood your keyboard with your saliva when looking!)

hasta la vista!

Movie review: How to Train Your Dragon

How to Train Your Dragon
Duration: about 90 minutes.

Synopsis: A Viking teenager named Hiccup lives on the island of Berk, where fighting dragons is a way of life. The teen's smarts and offbeat sense of humor don't sit too well with his tribe or its chief, who is also Hiccup's father. However, when Hiccup is included in Dragon Training with the other Viking teens, he sees his chance to prove he has what it takes to be a fighter. But when he encounters (and ultimately befriends) an injured dragon, his world is flipped upside down, and what started out as Hiccup's one shot to prove himself turns into an opportunity to set a new course for the future of the entire tribe.
My views: firstly, is it just me or this movie has a really weird title/name? but in any case, after all the raves, i finally caught the movie! it's really awesome, way above my expectation, & i regretted not watching it in 3D, bet it'll be spectacular. the swift action and all, really good effects & stunning animation! maybe those who'd watched it in 3D can share your views, comments are more than welcome :D a really lighthearted movie, like jovial and ... fluffy? (no idea why i used to word fluffy but whatever, fluffy sounds like relaxed and happy to me, so here you go, a fluffy movie.) and the dragon is cute max, toothless! i want a dragon too!

Ratings: 4.5 out of 5! exhilarating, surely worth the money & time!

Movie review: Nana

just a short post, for my twitter followers, i am sorry for flooding in the middle of the night, for those who do not know, i rewatched Nana 1 and 2 yesterday. & planning to rewatch the anime today!

i fell madly in love this movie since the first time i watched it many many years ago.
the songs, the accessories, the story and all, (& takumi ichinose!), awesome beyond words could describe.

& until now, i've yet to get my Vivienne Westwood armor ring, & it's probably out of production already, waited so many years for VW to open a outlet in singapore, & now that it has one, it was quite a disappointment when i dropped by. & the R necklace!

no matter how many times i've watched it, i still cry like a mad woman everytime i watch it.
i even cry watching the anime.

mention Nana & the first image that would come to me, even after so many years would be the part Nana ran out of the train & knelt on the snow, crying. it's just so, ... undescribable. the other part is when she went to return Ren the key, the part where Ren pulled her back and dragged her on the floor, damn it, so damn touching when they hugged. *imagine tears falling down uncontrollably*

who those who havent heard of or watched the movies & anime before, i strongly recommend this! especially if you're a sucker for romance-type, & like to cry a lot like me.

the anime only had up to 46 or 47 episodes, & they stopped producing it for so many years, but i think it is coming back soon, after the manga series has been completed. so looking forward to it!

Nana
Duration: about 110 minutes.

Synopsis: Osaki Nana (Nakashima Mika), a calm, cool, and collected punk rock singer who struts into Tokyo's underground punk scene looking to hit the big time. While Nana's got some ex-boyfriend issues that she's eager to put behind her, she won't allow that personal drama to interfere with her big dream. In fact, Nana's not going to stop until she's conquered Japan as the nation's top rock star! The other "Nana" of the title is Komatsu Nana (TV actress Miyazaki Aoi), who is alternatively called Hachi. Cute and cheerful, Hachi led a somewhat sheltered life and has a bad habit of falling in love too quickly. She had some relationship problems in the past, but when she falls for her high school pal Shoji, she decides to follow him to Tokyo when he gets admitted to an art design school. By pure chance, Nana and Hachi end up meeting on a train, and thanks to a chain of coincidences involving the number seven, the two of them end up sharing the same apartment. Its number? 707! So even with all the twists of fate in their favor, can these two very different people live under the same roof and get along? And will they eventually find the happiness they've dreamed for so long?

My views: this is what i call a masterpiece. anyway nana also meant the number 7, while hachi 8. this is my all-time favorite movie, & since i have a movie review section, i decided to review this. on the other side i felt it's a bit pointless to review a movie that's at least 4 years old, but this movie is super awesome! hence i am bringing this up so that people would watch it & cry with me. this movie not only show the love life of the two Nanas, but also the strong bond between them. also, there's Mika Nakashima & Yuna Ito! two really good japanese singers, and the songs in the movie are mad awesome. my favorite is Endless Story by Yuna Ito, and Glamorous Sky by Mika Nakashima.

Ratings: 5 out of 5! amazingly awesome, watch to believe!

*****

Nana 2
Duration: about 130 minutes.

Synopsis: Nana 2 focuses more on Nana Komatsu (Hachi) and her love life.

My views: a few of the casts have been changed, the rest were not that important but Hachi, played by Aoi Miyazaki in movie 1 was replaced by Yui Ichikawa in movie 2. personally i prefer Aoi Miyazaki. & movie 2 is not as nice as movie 1 in my opinion. the songs too, i prefer movie 1's. but still a great movie with awesome storyline. if you fell in love with Nana movie 1, nothing i say will keep you away from movie 2!

Ratings: 4 out of 5! enjoy ... or not!

I've graduated!

so much to blog but have been lazy lately, really lazy. my bad.

finally completed my diploma course, i've graduated with a Banking & Financial Services Diploma!
& now, i feel like furthering my studies, but i am not going to study any Banking-related course anymore, i know how much i've regretted choosing this course, back then i didnt follow what my heart told me to, and as a result, i struggled during the past three years, not motivated to study at all, not to say excel in it.

my GPA sucked. but to prove i was once "academically successful", this is a poster stuck onto a pillar in my secondary school. anyway i always like to correct this, i am TOP, not top ten okay! okay lah, the top ten also have this poster on the pillars all around in school, hence for convenience sake, they printed it as top ten. anyway so glad to find this picture in my old phone!
OMG I JUST FOUND A TYPO ON THIS POSTER AFTER SO MANY YEARS.
MY CHINESE IS A1, NOT A2! not that it matters, but still, it matters =.=''

i suddenly lost the feel to type. shall end here & let pictures take over.

today at ktv!
all my photos were mirror-shots because my companion refuse to help me take pictures. bahhh!

at first i thought the round little things were colored pearls, but no,
just a soft bite and it'll explode in your mouth, with passionfruit puree. awesome, i like it a lot!

Sarpino's! my first time having them, a wee bit better than Canadian's
but i still prefer Canadian's in terms of value.

super awesome lor mee at Bukit Purmei Road.
have been eating this since young, & so far, best i've ever tasted.

okay end here!
will blog again soon, which is tomorrow luh. all i wanna do now is bathe & calm myself down for now.

hasta la vista!

Movie review: Book of Eli

Book of Eli
Duration: about 120 minutes.

Synopsis: Directed by The Hughes brothers, it's about a lone man who fights his way across America just to protect a sacred book that holds the secrets to saving humankind. "Book Of Eli" stars Denzel Washington, Mila Kunis and Gary Oldman.

My views: i went into the cinema without knowing anything about this movie, not even the genre. it was slow at the beginning, but when the action came, it was mad awesome, really cool luh! heads & hands flying off the body, but on the contrary, it was about the bible. enjoyed the depth of the story & the faith the man held. towards the end, i find it quite contradicting but still, pretty good, love the fighting and all, just a bit ironic.

Ratings: 3.5 out of 5! absolutely worth watching, but i still walked out complaining about the ending!

Movie review: Kaiji: The Ultimate Gambler

Kaiji: The Ultimate Gambler
Duration: about 130 minutes.

Synopsis: An exciting psychological thriller starring Tatsuya Fujiwara as Kaiji, man forced to enter a deadly gambling competition aboard a cruise ship, to erase a large financial debt. Based on Nobuyuki Fukumoto's hit manga series which has sold over 11 million copies, Kaiji is a 26 year-old job-hopping bum who suddenly finds himself riddled in debt after a shadowy loan company informs him that he is responsible for a loan taken by his friend (who has since gone missing) and whom he casually co-signed as a loan guarantor for!

My views: japanese movies never fail to impress me, quite thrilling and mind-boogling. initially i thought it would be the usual chow yun-fat, god of gambler kind of movie, but no, the games they played were really interesting, the second game especially. i shant elaborate more, wouldnt wanna be a spoiler. this movie somewhat tells me that, to be a leader or a loser in life, you are in charge of it yourself. to take the chance or let it lapse and be a loser for life, you decide. lastly, the psychology and what we always refer to as "reverse psychology" and "reverse reverse psychology" in this movie is superb!

Ratings: 4 out of 5! watch to believe, go get your tickets!

What's up with my life

alright, finally have time for something more personal. have been watching a lot of movies lately, i think i have 3 or 4 more reviews in queue. & playing mahjong almost everyday, uhmm at least 5 times a week. my dad even commented it's my holiday job.

anyway, went JB last wednesday, like finally! damn long never go there for cheap thrills. so we ktv-ed and watched Book of Eli, stay tuned for the review! so while singing, we had lots of food, like really a lot =.='' i wondered if we were there to eat or sing.

a plate of mince meat with rice, too salty.
2 plates of chicken wings & drumlets, was okay.
mushroom soup & garlic toasts, awesome!
fingerfood like nuggets & fries, awesome too!
and our drinks, ... so were we there to eat or sing, i really do not know.

& some (fillintheblank) pictures, ...

i like to take "mirror-shots". hah not really. but anyway, my phone's no longer looking that plain!
oh yeah talking about the iphone, it was a really really random decision to buy it, passed by and randomly decided to buy it, hence i went home to get my IC (yeah no idea why my IC's always not in my wallet). & i have to admit, iphone's really awesome! and for that, i signed a new contract with new number under my own name =.='' which means every month i have to pay my bills myself.

so now, presenting my debut project bling bling! (wtf was that?! i dont know where did that came from. no not me, i didnt type or say that)

can you spot my name?

please dont say no, i will be super sadded. ='(
actually i do know luh, it's not obvious enough, but realized it too late.
now can see?

binge in sakae last friday.
i went sakae with two guys who dont take raw fish =.=''

my kajiki! havent had them for damn long already, my favorite sashimi!

somebody's salmon mentai. wasted!
damn gross cos he soaked it in hot water. =.='' i ate the other piece & madness, it was full of awesomeness.

for the rest of the time, i forgot what i did other than mahjong & movies. because, ... no photos.
so anyway, both my favorite artistes are coming to singapore this month. mega upset because i get to go to neither :(
JAM HSIAO & ADAM LAMBERT!
firstly because i do not have companions for it. secondly i am not so generous to buy two tickets and offer anybody to watch it with me just because i need a companion. (yeah, people will only go if it's free).
but still i feel so depressed about it. like both my fav, at the same period, & in the whole universe, i think i only adore the two of them luh. major depression ='(

alright, last two pictures, hello kitty poker cards! not a fan but i think they're so cute!

Movie review: Being Human

Being Human
Duration: about 110 minutes.

Synopsis: Max (Mark Lee) is a hardworking but unscrupulous employee for a mildly successful slimming centre “Natural Beauty”. In his efforts to increase company profits, Max decides to purchase supplies from a counterfeit brand. When he is found out, Max is fired. In his retaliation, Max decides to open a rival company “Max Beauty”, using the same counterfeit beauty products and imported slimming pills. Max’s conscience (played by Taiwanese celebrity Nono) appears to advise him against these actions but is duly ignored. Max will eventually realize that what comes around, goes around and what it means to Being Human Being.

My views: overall i had expected more humor but i was greatly disappointed. the storyline was just so-so, with moral of the story telling us to act with your conscience, because what goes around comes around. the acting of all the casts are great, but still i left the cinema feeling disappointed and sort-of-cheated. especially with the commotion of the Jack Neo scandal and all, even if it is to promote his new movie, i think it was a tad overrated. the only part i laughed was the NGs, seriously.

Ratings: 2.5 out of 5! you might wanna wait for tv to show, or when the dvd releases.

Movie review: Alice in Wonderland (3D)

Alice in Wonderland (3D)
Duration: about 110 minutes.

Synopsis: 17-years-old Alice attends a party in the Victorian estate only to find she is about to be proposed to in front of hundreds of snooty society types. She runs off, following the White Rabbit into a hole and ends up in the Wonderland, a place she visited in a similar manner 10 years before, yet doesn't remember. Wonderland was a peaceful kingdom until the Red Queen overthrew her sister, the White Queen. The creatures of Wonderland, such as the Cheshire Cat, Tweedledee and Tweedledum and the March Hare ready to revolt, wait for Alice to help them. With the help of the White Queen, Mad Hatter and the Caterpillar, Alice starts seeing the flashbacks of her original visit, back when she was seven.

My views: was expecting more from the visual effects as it is 3D, and for that, i found it to be quite disappointing. but other than that, i find it a jovial piece from Tim Burton, entertaining and vivacious. the animations, characters and costumes and such are pretty impressive. as for the plot, (i have never read the book before, so i will only be commenting on the movie itself), it was pretty good, a really lighthearted piece. so maybe you can forget about catching it in 3D, i feel that it was maybe just a little bit prettier, but having to pay almost double for it, nahhh...

Ratings: 3.5 out of 5! definitely worth your time!
